After defeating 12th division captain Kurotshuchi, Ishida makes his way up towards the Shrine of Penitence, where he, unfortunately, runs into the 9th division captain, Tousen. Although, the captain just uses his soul slayer to put Ishida to sleep (unless he just collapsed because of the battle with Kurotshuchi). Meanwhile, at Ichigo's training, Yoruichi shows him a spirit-transfer shell, which can transribe a soul slayer's main form and materialize it. When Zangetsu is materialized he makes hundreds of swords pop out of the ground. He then says that out of all the swords, only one of it is his true bankai form and only that sword can defeat him. Ichigo has to find it and defeat Zangetsu with it, or be killed.
